SC Chamber gives small businesses in South Carolina a voice in the making of laws and policies that affect the state’s business environment. South Carolina is home to over 400,000 small businesses which employ over 727,000 people, making them 97 percent of the state’s employers. Over 50 percent of SC Chamber’s members are small businesses. The organization continuously advocates for small businesses in state and federal legislative chambers, ensuring an attractive business environment is maintained to support business growth.

SC Chamber facilitates this growth by advocating favorable policies on the one hand and educating small businesses on the other. The latter role is predominantly performed by SC Chamber’s Small Business Council. The council educates small business owners on the issues impacting their business and encourages business owners to get involved in advocacy. It also meets quarterly to evaluate challenges faced by small businesses and come up with viable solutions.
