United Way of the Piedmont’s South Carolina 211 Program
For more than four years, Caleb Fort has served as the president of Winston-Salem, North Carolina’s QMX Mobile Health/Quality Mobile X-Ray, Inc. Involved in his community, Caleb Fort spends time as a board member with various local and national charity groups, including United Way of the Piedmont.
United Way of the Piedmont engages with a number of local organizations and services in order to better address the needs of the region’s most underserved individuals, including South Carolina 211. The 211 call-in resource is available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week to any individual or family looking for information regarding nonemergency human-service needs. Common examples of 211 phone calls include requests for information on community programs involving counseling services or financial assistance, child-care resources, and shelter. Individuals may also use 211 to make donations to specific community services and organizations or to find volunteer work.
Individuals outside of the 211-dialing area can still reach the service by calling 1–866–892–9211 at no cost. Businesses and organizations who wish to become part of the 211 database can do so by visiting www.sc211.org. More information is available at the 211 website and at www.uwpiedmont.org.
